The Governor of Hadhramaut and Commander of the Second Military Region, Major General Faraj Salmeen Al-Bahsani, inaugurated projects in the roads and bridges sector today in Mukalla, marking the country’s 53rd Independence Day celebrations on November 30. The governor inaugurated the “Hilla Suspension Bridge,” located on the western side of the entrance to Mukalla. It connects the city to several governorates (Shabwa, Abyan, Aden) and the rest of the Republic. The bridge is 325 meters long and consists of five openings, each 25 meters wide and 6 meters high, with retaining walls 100 meters long in each direction. The bridge includes two vehicle lanes, each 10 meters wide. The bridge rests on piles 25 meters deep underground. The Governor of Hadhramaut also inaugurated the “Ibn Sina Suspension Bridge,” 415 meters long. It consists of seven openings, each 25 meters wide and 6 meters high, and 100-meter-long concrete retaining walls in each direction. The bridge has two vehicle lanes, each 10 meters wide. The bridge rests on deep piles that reach a depth of 12 meters underground.
Two openings, each 20 meters wide and 6 meters high, were added to the bridge, designed to fit the original design.
The bridges are being implemented by the Yemeni Al-Amoudi Group for Contracting and Trading Limited, with funding from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in the State of Kuwait.
The governor emphasized the importance of these bridges in addressing the interruptions in the international highway, alleviating the suffering of citizens, and ensuring their continued movement during floods. The governor expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the generous State of Kuwait for its support and assistance to our people at various stages, including its funding of the Hilla and Ibn Sina bridges through the Kuwait-based Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. He praised the quality of work on the bridges and emphasized the importance of completing these major projects during this difficult period our country is experiencing. He also thanked the efforts of the Yemeni Al-Amoudi Group for Contracting and Trading Limited and its mastery of the roads and bridges sector. At a ceremony held on this occasion, the governor honored those who contributed to the completion of the two bridges. The governor was also honored for his support in the construction of the bridges and road projects.
The inauguration was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yemeni Al-Amoudi Group for Contracting and Trading Limited, Sheikh Abdul Qader Saeed Al-Amoudi, the Director-General, Mr. Shafiq Hussein Al-Amoudi, the Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Public Works and Roads, the Undersecretaries of Hadhramaut Governorate, and the Directors-General of the Ministry’s offices.
