Under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Shaya Mohsen Al-Zindani, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries, Major General Salem Abdullah Al-Saqtari, Minister of State and Governor of the interim capital Aden, Abdulrahman Sheikh, and representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Mr. Vakhtang Svanidze, laid the foundation stone for the project to rehabilitate the fish landing center dock (dockyard) in Al-Mualla District of the interim capital Aden. The project is being implemented by the Al-Amoudi Yemeni Group for Contracting and Trade Limited, with funding from the German government through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Minister Al-Saqtari emphasized that the project aims to strengthen the infrastructure of the fisheries sector and revitalize fishing and marine marketing in Aden. The dock is approximately 64 meters long. He pointed out that the rehabilitation of the fish landing dock is an important step to revitalize the movement of fishing boats coming from various Yemeni coasts, including the coasts of the Arabian Sea, Hadhramaut, Al-Mahra, and the western coast, in addition to fishing boats from Somalia. For his part, Governor of Aden, Abdulrahman Sheikh, indicated that the rehabilitation of the dock will contribute to boosting fish production and improving services provided to fishermen, thus supporting economic activity and strengthening the position of the capital Aden on the investment map. The industrial sector praised the long-standing experience of the company executing the project, the Al-Amoudi Yemeni Group for Contracting and Trading Ltd.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by the Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries, the Chairman of the General Authority for Fisheries in the Gulf of Aden, Dr. Abdul Salam Ahmed Ali, the Director of the Dockyard Fish Landing Center, Rashid Saeed, representatives from the United Nations Development Programme, and the engineering and administrative team of the Al-Amoudi Group for Contracting and Trading.
