Hadhramaut Governor inspects the readiness of the second phase of the Khor Al-Mukalla project to absorb the effects of the low pressure system.

On Tuesday morning, August 19, 2025, the Governor of Hadhramaut, Mr. Mabkhot Mubarak bin Madi, accompanied by the Undersecretary of Hadhramaut Governorate for Technical Affairs, Engineer Amin Saeed Barziq, inspected the readiness of the Khor Al-Mukalla Project, Phase II, to accommodate any impacts of the low-pressure system that may affect the city of Mukalla, the capital of Hadhramaut Governorate. They were received by Sheikh Abdul Qader Saeed Al-Amoudi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yemeni Al-Amoudi Group for Contracting and Trading Limited, and Mr. Shafiq Hussein Al-Amoudi, General Manager of the Yemeni Al-Amoudi Group for Contracting and Trading Limited. The Governor toured the work sites, reviewing the project’s progress and the most prominent ongoing work at the Al-Munawara Bridge site, the Book Tour site, and the preliminary work for the Chinese Bridge site. He praised the progress of work and emphasized the project’s readiness to accommodate any flooding that may hit the city of Mukalla. This was stated by the Director General of the Egyptian Engineering Consulting Office, Professor Dr. Engineer Zaki Ibrahim Mahmoud, the designer and supervisor of the Khor Al-Mukalla Project, Phase II, in a television interview. He confirmed that the studies and designs for the project took into account the ability of the waterway to accommodate the massive flooding, allowing it to flow smoothly without causing any damage. They were accompanied on the visit by Consulting Engineer Hisham Mohammed and the administrative, engineering and technical staff of the Khor Al Mukalla Project Phase II.
